The Department of Agriculture has confirmed a new positive case of African Swine Fever (ASF) in wild boar in Castellbisbal. This detection breaks a streak of almost a month without new infections in the municipality, where 17 cases were recorded in just three weeks during June.
This week, 480 samples have been analyzed, of which 4 have tested positive, representing 0.80% of the total. Since the first positive detected on November 28, 9,837 wild boar have been examined, with 372 confirmed cases and 9,465 negative.
In the past week, the Rural Agents, the Mossos d’Esquadra (Catalan Police), hunting associations, and wildlife control teams have captured 325 wild boar within the infected zone. Total captures within this area amount to 9,453 specimens.
Currently, nineteen municipalities are located within the high-risk zone for ASF, including Castellbisbal. The list is completed by Badia del Vallès, Barberà del Vallès, Cerdanyola del Vallès, El Papiol, Molins de Rei, Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Montcada i Reixac, Polinyà, Ripollet, Rubí, Sabadell, Sant Cugat del Vallès, Sant Quirze del Vallès, Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, Terrassa, Sant Just Desvern, Esplugues de Llobregat, and the access points to the Parc Natural de Collserola.
