After a brief transition period, the CAAD is reinstating an essential figure for the care of dogs and cats at the shelter. The previous professional left the center a couple of weeks ago, leaving the team with only one veterinary technical assistant.

This measure responds to concerns expressed on social media regarding animal care. Municipal authorities have assured that animal monitoring and medication have been guaranteed at all times, thanks to the presence of a caregiver who is also a veterinary technical assistant. Furthermore, the CAAD has external veterinary support from the UAB Veterinary Clinical Hospital for emergencies.
In parallel, the Animal Welfare department is working to incorporate an ethologist, an expert in animal behavior, into the center's staff. Currently, this role is performed by an external company, but the intention is for this figure to help both center staff and adopting families ensure the highest quality in animal adoption and treatment.
The ethologist would work two days a week, focusing especially on abandoned potentially dangerous dogs (PPA) without owners. It is believed that with behavioral guidelines, their adoption can be facilitated. While the call for applications for this position is being prepared, the CAAD will continue to collaborate with the external company, which has a one-year contract.
