This modernization of the plant, crucial for treating residual municipal waste in the region, anticipates an increase of approximately one percentage point in container selection. Furthermore, the improvements allow for the incorporation of polypropylene (PP) selection, adding to materials already recovered, such as PET, HDPE, brick, and other fractions.
“"This set of actions not only significantly increases the capacity to recover recyclable materials and reduces the volume of waste rejection, but also guarantees greater operational stability of the process."
The upgrades primarily focused on the container separation line, featuring the incorporation of latest-generation optical technology. These improvements were made possible by a contribution of €997,000 granted by the Agència de Residus de Catalunya (Waste Agency of Catalonia) through Next Generation EU funds.
To witness the changes firsthand, the director of the Agència de Residus de Catalunya, Albert Planell, conducted an institutional visit to the CTR-Vallès Occidental. He was accompanied by the president of the Consortium for Waste Management of Vallès Occidental, Rafa Güeto, and the mayor of Vacarisses and vice-president of the Consortium, Antoni Massana.
