Espanyol drew 1-1 against Sabadell in their first home pre-season match, with goals from an own goal by Rubén Sánchez and Kike García.

Espanyol drew 1-1 against Sabadell in their home debut this season. After two previous victories, Manolo González's team could not overcome the Arlequinats, recently promoted to the Second Division. The visitors opened the scoring thanks to a defensive error that resulted in an own goal by Rubén Sánchez. Towards the end of the match, Kike García secured the final draw.
The blue and white team did not show their best performance in front of their fans. Facing a well-organized Sabadell defense, goal-scoring opportunities were scarce. The second half was more lively, with substitutions made to bring fresh legs into the team. The first goal came after an error by Timera, which led to Rubén Sánchez's own goal. Sabadell's joy was short-lived, as a few minutes later, the experienced Kike García equalized with a shot that found the back of the net.
Next week, Espanyol will travel to England to continue their pre-season preparations. The first match will be on Wednesday, July 29, against Burnley. Subsequently, they will face Middlesbrough on Saturday, August 1. The final game before the league begins will be against Coventry City on Saturday, August 8.
