The Rubí City Council has increased its commitment to intensive Dual Vocational Training, growing from ten to fifteen hired students and adding a third educational center, Institut J. V. Foix, to the existing L'Estatut and La Serreta. This initiative positions Rubí as the only city council in Spain offering Dual Vocational Training via an alternating training contract, rather than a scholarship.
The mayor, Ana María Martínez Martínez, accompanied by the Councilor for Employment and Business, Juan Antonio Brustenga Majó, welcomed the new students. Martínez highlighted the importance of the administration also "opening doors and generating opportunities" for young talent, using example to encourage companies to invest in vocational training. She emphasized that vocational training is "demanding, specialized, and connected to the real world, opening doors to the labor market".
Dual vocational training is based on collaboration between educational centers and companies. Students receive part of their training in the classroom and the other part through practical activities at the company. After an initial general adaptation phase within the administration, the students have begun a paid internship with an alternating training contract until June. The mayor stressed that their work will have "a service to the citizens of Rubí" behind it, hoping the experience will help them grow professionally.
The students are pursuing vocational cycles such as Administrative Management, Network Systems Administration (ASIX), Multiplatform Application Development (DAM), Administration and Finance, Care for Dependent Persons, Early Childhood Education, Social Integration, and Electromechanical Maintenance. They will join teams in Social Services, Employment, Cooperation, Elderly Services, Youth Services, Education, Technology, Citizen Relations, Sectoral Programs, Citizen Services, and Urban Maintenance.
During the meeting, two final degree projects from students of the previous cohort were presented: Mario Palenzuela (CFGS DAM) and Ainara Pregigueiro (CFGS Social Integration). This is the sixth cohort of Dual Vocational Training students at the City Council, and 83% of previous participants have found employment.
