The municipal proposal for the neighborhood in the sixth district, announced in the autumn of 2025, included fifteen actions with a total budget of 25 million euros, to be jointly financed with the Generalitat. The actions focused on structural housing rehabilitation, improving accessibility, and energy efficiency, addressing the age of the buildings and the configuration of the blocks.
Planned improvements included the renovation of key facilities such as the Ludoteca Margarida Bedós and the sports court, as well as recovering public ownership of private spaces used communally. Investments in paving, tree planting, and public lighting were also planned.
“"The Neighborhood Plan is a key tool for investment and dignification of neighborhoods. The last time it was implemented, it resulted in the construction, for example, of dozens of elevators in communities that could not afford the cost of an elevator."
Despite the setback, the Neighborhood Plan itself offers new opportunities. President Salvador Illa announced that the second call will open in the spring, framed within a global investment of 1.6 billion euros, of which 1 billion will be contributed by the Generalitat and 600 million by the city councils.
Looking ahead to future calls, En Comú Podem has urged the City Council to be “more ambitious” and expand its proposal, including rehabilitations in other areas of the city that also require investment, such as Can Puiggener, Ca n’Oriac, and Torre-romeu.
