The Tour de France will generate significant mobility disruptions in Catalonia on Sunday, July 5th, and Monday, July 6th, with two stages covering nearly 400 kilometers and affecting around sixty municipalities.

The cycling competition, which kicks off on Saturday with a time trial through the streets of Barcelona, will have considerable traffic repercussions over the weekend. Sunday's stage, between Tarragona and Barcelona, will coincide with travel to the beaches and involve road closures of approximately five hours on key coastal corridor routes, such as the N-340 and C-31. As an extraordinary measure, the toll on the C-32 will be free for light vehicles between 11 AM and 4 PM.
On Monday, a working day, disruptions will be concentrated in the Osona and Ripollès regions. The main affected roads will be the C-59, the C-17 from Gleva onwards, the N-260, and various Pyrenean roads. The Catalan Traffic Service (SCT) anticipates that the situation will normalize around 6 PM, recommending travel from that time, especially for returning to the metropolitan area of Barcelona.
To ensure efficient management, an operational coordination center (CECOR) will be activated at the Central Complex of Ègara in Sabadell. Furthermore, reinforcements are expected on the lines of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), both on Thursday for the team presentation and throughout the weekend. There will also be modifications to interurban bus routes, with increased frequency on the Vallès lines (S1 and S2) and doubled capacity on the Llobregat-Anoia trains.

"The Catalan government urges citizens to consider the planned disruptions, especially on Sunday, when many people are heading to coastal destinations."

The security operation will mobilize a total of 4,500 police officers, with 3,600 being agents of the Mossos d’Esquadra. Road restrictions will be particularly noticeable on Sunday and Monday, while Saturday's stage, a 19.6-kilometer team time trial between Fòrum and Montjuïc, will primarily affect the city of Barcelona.
The stages on Sunday and Monday involve closures and mandatory detours in numerous municipalities, including Torredembarra, El Vendrell, Vilanova i la Geltrú, Sitges, Castelldefels, Begues, Vallirana, Molins de Rei, Sant Just Desvern, and Esplugues de Llobregat. Alternative routes recommended include the AP-7, the C-32, and the ring roads of Barcelona, as well as other roads for travel between coastal and inland regions.
