The political group Crida per Sabadell has warned that 26 families living in a SAREB building in the Creu de Barberà neighborhood face eviction in early March.

The building is located on Ramon Berenguer street, on the border between Sabadell and Barberà del Vallès. This block was acquired by the so-called bad bank after a developer went bankrupt over 15 years ago. The Sabadell City Council attempted to buy the property last summer, but the deal was not finalized.

"We demand an immediate resolution of vulnerability files and a dignified housing response."

Housing Councilor Eloi Cortés stated that the local government is working to find solutions. The PSC representative mentioned ongoing mediation with SAREB and the Generalitat to secure social rents, although the bank has only approved three cases so far.
SAREB was established in 2012 to manage toxic assets from rescued banks. While Sabadell has a previous agreement for 80 social housing units, the residents of this specific block remain in a precarious situation as the court-ordered deadline nears.
