Forty Years of the Chic Sant Cugat Legend: The Nightclub That Defined an Era

The iconic venue on Rius i Taulet Avenue celebrates its 40th anniversary as a landmark of Catalan nightlife.

The legendary Chic Sant Cugat nightclub commemorates this February 28th the 40th anniversary of its opening in Sant Cugat del Vallès, marking a golden age for nightlife in the region.

Opened on February 27, 1986, Chic Sant Cugat was founded by Octavi Barnils, Vicenç Puig Amat, and Joan Duran Elías. The venue aimed to provide a local alternative for young people who previously traveled to Barcelona or Sabadell for entertainment.

With its famous swimming pool and a capacity for 7,500 people, the club became a regional phenomenon. Although it closed in 2004 and was demolished in 2008, its legacy continues with a special commemorative event scheduled for this Saturday.
