This new facility, spanning nearly 730 square meters on Apel·les Mestres street, is designed to meet the care needs of the child and adolescent population, offering larger, more comfortable, and humanized spaces. The center, managed by the Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa (CST), became operational last August.
The CSMIJ of Rubí maintains its reference population (Rubí and Castellbisbal), while the newly created Day Hospital also covers Sant Cugat del Vallès and Sant Quirze del Vallès. In its first month, the CSMIJ conducted nearly 700 visits, and the Day Hospital attended to 6 patients.
The mayor highlighted the improvement this space represents for the city, stating that "children and adolescents needing mental health care, their families, and professionals now have a larger, more accessible, and adequate space." Both Martínez and Pané agreed on the importance of strengthening mental health services in response to the increasing needs detected.
The minister emphasized that child and adolescent mental health is a priority for the Government and that facilities like this allow for "bringing specialized care closer to the territory, intervening early, and offering a more comprehensive response." She added that "this new facility is a step forward" in combating stigma and ensuring accessible, quality care.
Martínez celebrated the new space and committed to continuing to work with the Generalitat and CatSalut towards the future consolidation of mental health services.
The infant-juvenile Day Hospital provides intensive care for adolescents aged 12 to 17 with psychopathological disorders, acting as an intermediate resource between outpatient care and full hospitalization.
The center's design followed humanization criteria, incorporating input from professionals and families to create a more welcoming and functional environment.
During a meeting prior to the inauguration, the mayor and the minister also discussed the timeline for the new Integrated Health Care Center (CAIS), which will be an outpatient facility with consultation rooms, a medical day hospital, and services for dialysis, rehabilitation, and mental health.
