The alert was received at 15:22, at which point a preventive evacuation of all staff was carried out. According to initial reports, the flames originated in an exterior shed used as a farm and spread rapidly into one of the laboratories and an adjacent warehouse containing straw.
15 fire crews were deployed to the scene, focusing their efforts on three critical areas: the main building, the affected warehouse, and the forest area near the Collserola site to prevent the fire from spreading. The column of black smoke was visible from various points in the Vallès Occidental region and from the AP-7 motorway.
Although no personal injuries have been reported, the center's management and emergency teams are still working to confirm the status of the animals housed in the facility, where research on animal biology and diseases such as African swine fever is conducted.
