The party Junts per Catalunya has confirmed the definitive expulsion of its two councilors in Sabadell, Lluís Matas and Katia Botta, for offenses considered very serious according to the party's statutes.

The decision, made public this Wednesday afternoon, was proposed by the party's Guarantees Commission and ratified by the Permanent Secretariat. Lluís Matas, spokesperson for the municipal group, will be expelled for a period of four years, while Katia Botta, his second-in-command, will be expelled for one year. Both are disqualified from running for institutional office.
According to the Guarantees Commission's press release, the councilors' actions constitute "a very serious offense" as they are contrary to the party's interests, breach their obligations to the party's local bodies, have made public statements that could cause serious harm to the party, and they refused to hand over their councilor mandates when requested.
Meanwhile, Junts per Catalunya has stated it is "fully focused" on building the Acció per Sabadell coalition. This coalition, described as "independentist, Sabadell-focused, and progressive unity," will be led by Gabriel Fernàndez, currently a non-attached councilor and former ERC spokesperson in the City Council.
