The decision was made after an internal reflection process shared with various left-wing independence collectives. According to the group, an electoral candidacy must be a collective and rooted project, with a real capacity for influence within the institution, beyond mere presence at the polls.
Despite the decision not to run in the elections, the CUP has confirmed that it will maintain its activity in Terrassa through social movements. The organization will continue to work in priority areas such as housing, the defense of public services, anti-fascism, and language.
Historically, the group had representation in the local council in 2015, with one councilor. However, in the 2019 and 2023 elections, the candidacy did not obtain the necessary support to enter the city council.
