The commemoration will take place at the Parc dels Països Catalans at 11 AM, with the participation of local entities, the Coral Renaixença choir, the EMA (Municipal School of Arts), and a sardana dance. The intervention by Sarai Martín, winner of the 2024 Santa Perpètua Research Scholarship, will focus on women's struggles during the late Franco regime and the transition, particularly those from Santa Perpètua.
This participation will also serve to highlight the fifty years of democratic struggles that, from 1976 onwards, filled the streets of Catalonia demanding freedom, amnesty, an autonomy statute, and democratic institutions.
Subsequently, the mayor of Santa Perpètua, Joan Carles Mingueza, will deliver the institutional speech. The event will also feature the Municipal School of Arts (EMA) and the performance by the Coral Renaixença, along with the traditional sardana dance.
Children from the Grup de Joves Diables and Sport Sala entities will be responsible for carrying the flag, which will be raised on the flagpole at the Parc dels Països Catalans while the Senyera is sung.
According to the Councillor for Presidency, Tamar Zamora, “with this celebration, Santa Perpètua will once again commemorate Catalonia's National Day, vindicating democratic memory and the role of citizens and entities in building collective freedoms”.
One of this year's novelties is that the offerings will be plants instead of bouquets of flowers. These plants will be planted in the Plaça del 8 de març, in the Centre Vila neighborhood, in the days following the Diada to ensure their longevity.
