The fountains located on the ground in the open space of the Promenade ceased functioning in early July. The City Council posted a notice explaining that the inactivity was due to "water quality control tasks".
The council has reported that the maintenance contract for these fountains, which are not managed by Aigües Sabadell, is in the process of being awarded. This agreement will also cover necessary maintenance work on surrounding elements, such as the pavement, which has been damaged in some areas.
This area serves as one of the city's climate shelters, often used by children to cool off, despite indications prohibiting bathing. Nearby functioning fountains are located in Sant Roc square.
Sabadell features around forty climate shelters this year, including civic centers, libraries, and parks, to combat high temperatures. The Vapor Badia library and Gernika square have been reopened, although some neighborhood facilities will be closed in August.
From September 1st, regular operating hours are expected to resume, with the Festa Major, scheduled from September 4th to 7th, in focus.
