Residents of Sabadell and the Vallès Occidental region woke up this morning to a noticeable smell of burning, confirmed by the Generalitat Firefighters as a consequence of a wildfire in Aragon.

The smell of smoke has been detected in various parts of the region, as well as in Barcelona and other areas of Catalonia. Official sources have confirmed that the origin is not in Catalonia but in an active wildfire in the Alcubierre mountain range, in the municipality of Leciñena, Aragon.
This fire has generated a dense smoke plume that, carried by the wind, has traveled to the Sabadell area and other Catalan municipalities. Civil Protection has validated the information on social media, responding to numerous citizen alerts. The mayor of Sabadell, Marta Farrés, and the mayor of Terrassa, Jordi Ballart, have also reported on the situation through their profiles.
The vegetation fire started on Tuesday afternoon and has already affected over 2,200 hectares, according to data from the Aragon government. The rapid spread, aided by the wind, is hindering firefighting efforts, which involve personnel from the Military Emergencies Unit and hundreds of firefighters. The weather forecast for the coming hours, with extreme temperatures, could further complicate the situation, although nighttime operations have been described as "favorable".
