The per capita income in Terrassa reached 19,895 euros during 2023, an increase of over a thousand euros compared to the previous year, according to data from the Statistical Institute of Catalonia (Idescat).

This figure, while representing an improvement from the 18,718 euros recorded in 2022, places the city below the Catalan average of 20,789 euros. The Idescat report reveals that Terrassa is among the localities with the lowest per capita income within the major cities of Vallès Occidental.
Compared to Sabadell, the other co-capital of the region, the gross disposable household income per inhabitant in Terrassa is approximately 400 euros lower, as Sabadell recorded 20,303 euros. The difference is even more pronounced when compared to Sant Cugat del Vallès, which reached 30,434 euros, more than 10,000 euros above Terrassa. The only exception in this comparison is Rubí, with a slightly lower income than Terrassa, at 18,483 euros.
The study also highlights that Alella, in Maresme, is the municipality with the highest per capita income in Catalonia, at 35,425 euros. At the other end of the ranking are localities such as Salt (13,633 euros), Lloret de Mar (14,009 euros), and Castelló d'Empúries (14,136 euros), with incomes significantly below the country's average.
Overall, per capita income in Catalonia has experienced an 8.5% growth. Other localities like Cabrils, Amer, Cruïlles, Monells, Sant Sadurní de l'Heura, and Vilanova del Vallès have also shown significant progress, with a 20% increase. Only a small group of municipalities, including Cabra del Camp, Quart, Corbera d'Ebre, Navata, Mediona, and Mont-ras, have seen their income decrease.
