The operation, named plan Kanpai, focused on Plaça d'Espanya, specifically the interchange between Rodalies and FGC in Sabadell Nord, an area with high foot traffic. According to police sources, the aim is to closely monitor repeat offenders who live by crime.
During the two-hour control, several individuals known to the officers were encountered. A couple from Sabadell with around forty prior records for fights, robberies, and thefts were found to be carrying nothing illegal. However, five young people were caught with cannabis and hashish, discovered thanks to the Municipal Police's canine unit.
Additionally, a young man returning from work was intercepted with a semi-automatic knife, a bladed weapon prohibited in Spain. The deputy head of the Mossos' Citizen Security Unit, Santi Bernal, emphasized the importance of not allowing impunity with weapons.
The operation involved 32 officers from the Mossos d'Esquadra and the Municipal Police, including public order agents, uniformed officers, plainclothes officers, and the canine unit. There was also collaboration from Renfe security guards and support from the National Police.
