The award was announced on Monday, January 12, following a public tender distributed in two phases to guarantee competitiveness and technical quality. This expansion is considered a "key step" in consolidating the Catalunya Media City as a reference audiovisual infrastructure in Southern Europe.
The intervention's main goal is to double the production and filming capacity of the PAC. To achieve this, the construction of two large sound stages is planned: one of 1,000 square meters and a second of 2,200 square meters. The latter will be the largest in Catalonia and one of the biggest in the Southern European region.
The intervention aims to double the production and filming capacity of the Parc Audiovisual de Catalunya.
The project requires a total investment of 13 million euros. The Generalitat de Catalunya will contribute 10 million euros, while the Ajuntament de Terrassa (Terrassa City Council) will provide the remaining 3 million euros. Auxiliary services will be located within the former Hospital del Tòrax, adhering to the rehabilitation criteria.
The UTE Camps – Felip – Ferrando has been awarded the contract for the preliminary project, basic and execution projects, and construction management. The deadline for project delivery is eight months from the contract signing date. Construction is estimated to last about fifteen months, scheduled to start in November 2026 and finish in the summer of 2028.
