The Recooperem project, promoted by the Consell Comarcal del Vallès Occidental, celebrated its tenth anniversary having recovered nearly 164,000 meals for almost 4,000 vulnerable families since 2015.

The initiative, established as a reference model in the fight against food waste and social cohesion, celebrated its anniversary in Sabadell. Throughout its history, it has prevented the generation of over 61,000 kilograms of waste and has reduced approximately 25 tons of CO₂ emissions.
Currently, the project is implemented in 14 municipalities in Vallès Occidental, operating with a network of 62 utilization centers and 16 social entities that guarantee food safety and the distribution of surpluses.
The city of Cerdanyola joined in 2024 through a local network that includes Escola Xarau and three catering spaces on the Autonomous University of Barcelona campus: the Restaurant de la Plaça, the Restaurant de Medicina, and the Cafeteria de Lletres.
Furthermore, the recovery of food surpluses is made possible thanks to the participation of collective catering companies such as Roca González Gastronomía Colectiva, Aramark, and Grupo Soteras, with the Consell Comarcal acting as the intermediary entity for transport and coordination.
