The Recooperem project, run by the Vallès Occidental Comarcal Council, celebrated its tenth anniversary in Sabadell, highlighting the recovery of 164,000 meals for vulnerable people.

The Recooperem program, promoted by the Vallès Occidental Comarcal Council, commemorated its tenth anniversary last Thursday with an event held in Sabadell. The main goal of this initiative is twofold: to reduce food waste and ensure dignified nutrition for people in vulnerable situations.
Since its inception, the project has managed to recover a total of 164,000 meals. This success has been made possible thanks to the collaboration of 62 public and private organizations, mainly including schools, but also hospitals, university centers, and various catering companies.

A solidarity initiative of these characteristics and with comarcal scope is more necessary today than ever.

The importance of Recooperem is accentuated by the current social context. It was recently confirmed that the risk of poverty has grown again in Catalonia, particularly affecting minors. Currently, 36.1% of children under the age of 16 live at risk of poverty or social exclusion.
