The Rodalies de Catalunya network has restored railway circulation on the entire R8 line this Tuesday, after the completion of necessary works and repairs on the Rubí and Martorell section.

The service on Rodalies de Catalunya's R8 line has returned to normal this Tuesday, with the resumption of railway circulation along its entire route. This restoration includes the section between Rubí and Martorell, which had been affected since January 20th.
Initial disruptions were due to Storm Harry, which caused a retaining wall of the AP-7 to collapse onto the tracks between Gelida and Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, affecting the R4 line and leading to tragic consequences. Subsequently, the R8 experienced further interruptions due to emergency works in the Rubí tunnel and a freight train derailment on May 8th, which did not result in personal injuries.
Until now, the R8 line, connecting Martorell with Granollers and passing through towns like Sant Cugat del Vallès and Cerdanyola Universitat, only operated between Rubí and Granollers Centre.
The alternative road service will remain operational throughout Tuesday, and direct buses to Cerdanyola Universitat will be provided until Thursday, June 18th.
In early June, the Secretary of State for Transport, José Antonio Santano, had announced the plan to resume passenger service between Rubí and Martorell by mid-July, a date that has now been brought forward by a month. In parallel, improvement works on the Rubí tunnel, valued at 23 million euros, are being put out to tender.
