The right to self-government, the defense of the Catalan language, and the reinforcement of local autonomy were the main demands of the institutional manifesto for the National Day of Catalonia in Valldoreix. The event, held in the Jardins 11 de setembre at the Town Hall in front of a large public, also served to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the public celebration of the Diada's revival, which took place in 1976 in Sant Boi de Llobregat.
During his speech, the president of the EMD of Valldoreix, Juanjo Cortés, highlighted that ‘Emerging populism, unfortunately increasingly entrenched in institutions, tends to eliminate diversity and plurality, as well as the multilingual reality. For this reason, we need to strengthen local governments as spaces for coexistence that allow us to cohere our communities’.
Following the speech, floral tributes were made to the monument of the 1714 hero, Francesc Busquets. Institutional offerings were made by the spokespersons of the municipal groups represented in the plenary, with the exception of the PP and VOX. Subsequently, representatives of political parties such as Junts, ERC, CUP, PSC, and local entities including Valldaurex, Centre d’Estudis de Valldoreix, Casal de la Gent Gran de Valldoreix, Club Handbol Valldoreix, Valldoreix Espais Naturals, Veïnat Progressista de Valldoreix, and Marxosos del Vallès, also laid their floral tributes.
The event concluded with the traditional singing of the anthem of Valldoreix and ‘Els Segadors’ by the choirs Harmonia de Valldoreix and Music’al Cor. The Gegants de Valldoreix, Assumpta and Cebrià, also attended the celebration.
