The initiative, which brings the total number of hydrants in the city to 584, aims to increase the emergency services' response capacity for potential fire incidents. The investment amounted to 91,529.32 euros, distributed in two batches of ten units each.
The new underground hydrants have been located in areas with a coverage deficit, particularly in forest environments and residential areas close to the woods. The project also focused on ensuring that water reaches each point with the necessary pressure.
“"Facilitating the work of firefighters as much as possible is key to controlling fires. Whether a fire remains a minor scare or becomes a real threat can depend on having the necessary water supply points readily available. That's why we have installed 20 new hydrants in the urbanizations, strengthening the network in both quantity and quality."
This initiative is part of the Hydrant Master Plan and the City Council's biannual investment plan. Improving the safety of urbanizations, protecting people and property, and preserving Rubí's natural spaces are key objectives.
The addition of these new hydrants expands the territorial coverage of the fire protection system, enhancing the municipality's preparedness for a risk that requires constant planning and sustained investment, especially during the warmer months.
