The council has decided to reformulate the application for the program's second call, expanding its scope to include La Romànica and plaça Castelao, home to the Civic Center and the CAP Creu de Barberà health center. The initial proposal for the comprehensive renovation of Les Termes was not selected in the program's first phase.
The new initiative includes structural improvements to housing, actions to enhance accessibility, and energy efficiency. It also plans for the upgrade of facilities such as the Margarida Bedós Play Center and the multi-sport court. One of the objectives is to regain public ownership of some currently private squares to facilitate the works.
Additionally, the project involves improving lighting and installing photovoltaic panels on municipal facilities. On a social level, actions are proposed to generate opportunities and foster cohesion, such as a dining hall at the Les Termes institute, employment programs, and vocational training to combat school dropout.
The final decision on the renovation will depend on the Generalitat, which selects and funds the winning projects. The neighborhood's blocks, built in the 1960s, are progressively deteriorating, a situation that resident communities with limited purchasing power have been unable to address, particularly regarding the installation of elevators.
