The Sabadell En Comú Podem group will present a motion at the May municipal plenary session to modernize the public safety model, focusing on coexistence, mediation, and prevention.

The proposal by Sabadell En Comú Podem aims to transform the perception of safety in the city, despite considering it already secure. The objective is to address citizen concerns through a more community-oriented and accessible approach.
The four fundamental pillars of the initiative include the deployment of a proximity police force, the reinforcement of civic agents, the revival of the 'Serenos' figure, and the creation of a Community Safety Board.

"The city is safe, but we must respond to the perception problem that part of the citizenry has."

Regarding proximity policing, a plan is proposed to establish a constant presence in neighborhoods, fostering direct contact with neighborhood associations. This measure seeks to shift the current model towards a police force more focused on prevention and peaceful conflict resolution.
The reinforcement of civic agents is another key point, with the intention of expanding the workforce to ensure proper use of public spaces, inform about coexistence ordinances, and detect social problems. The group also proposes a pilot program for civic night patrols, the 'serenos', without sanctioning power, to intervene in conflicts and accompany individuals who feel unsafe.

"We need to move from a car and patrol police to a neighborhood and relationship-based police, focused on prevention and the peaceful resolution of conflicts."

Finally, the motion includes the creation of a Community Safety Board, a coordination space between the administration, entities, and social agents to analyze and diagnose coexistence in neighborhoods. This proposal comes after a call for temporary civic agent positions went unfilled.
In relation to the presence of plainclothes officers in schools, an initiative by the Generalitat in thirteen centers, the party has expressed its concern, stating that agents are not needed but rather a model of coexistence and inclusion.

"It is very serious that some agents have infiltrated teachers' meetings in schools. Instead of agents, we need a model of coexistence and inclusion."
