The intervention, carried out by the ADF La Serralada, aimed to reclaim this land for public use and ensure safety, as it is located in a flood-prone area near the Ripoll River. The accumulation of materials had led to the degradation of the natural environment.
Approximately 90 cubic meters of waste, mainly plastics, drums, tarpaulins, and construction elements, have been removed. This action has helped to restore the land's dignity, and it will soon be reforested with trees. Furthermore, the removal of materials has allowed the gas company to inspect the pipelines, a task that was impossible with the previous occupation.
The mayor, Bartolo Egea, and the president of the Social Area, Rafa Ruiz, visited the site on Tuesday, August 11. Egea emphasized the importance of the initiative in recovering a highly degraded green space for the municipality.
