The Sabadell City Council will launch the first phase of a 2.2 million euro plan next week to improve ten children's play areas, making them greener, accessible, and inclusive, as announced by Mayor Marta Farrés.

The total investment of 2.2 million euros will allow intervention on 12,446 m² of green zones and play spaces. This amount is divided into four lots affecting key locations such as the squares of Montellà, Llívia, Parc Taulí, Gernika Square, Can Gambús Park, Creu Alta Square, and Joan Corominas Square, among others.

"We want to give a facelift to many spaces in the city that need it because they have been degrading, and we want to put the money into the streets so that everyone can enjoy well-maintained areas and have a quality of life."

Marta Farrés · Mayor of Sabadell
Regarding the games, 46 new elements will be installed, including carousels, sandpits, sound panels, and wooden structures, incorporating accessible proposals that facilitate shared play for children with different abilities. Furthermore, about forty existing damaged play elements will be restored with new, more durable parts. The works also include improving pavements, renewing perimeter fences, and installing new urban furniture.
One of the main objectives is the increase in green areas. The plan includes planting over a hundred new trees to generate more shade and creating vegetated spaces, contributing to making the parks cooler and more natural, adapting the actions to the characteristics of each space.
The start of the works is scheduled for next week, with the forecast that repairs at the ten points will be completed before the end of 2026. Joan Corominas Square, in the Gràcia neighborhood, will be the first to receive improvements. In early February, the squares of Llívia and Montellà (Roureda neighborhood) and Creu Alta Square will follow.
