The Vapor Badia library, located on Carrer de les Tres Creus, has been partially closed during the day due to the forecast of intense rainfall. Users arriving in the morning found the doors shut, unaware of the closure due to the Generalitat's alert.
A user, Álvaro, expressed his resignation regarding the restricted hours, commenting: "They always close it for any reason. Saturday it closes at 7 PM, Sunday it's closed, Monday morning it's closed. They should extend the hours."
To improve services, the Sabadell City Council has opened tenders for the construction of a self-managed study and reading room, accessible 24 hours via a mobile application. The deadline for bids is September 22nd, with an estimated budget of approximately 588,000 euros. Construction is expected to begin in the last quarter of the year, while maintaining the library's regular activities.
The new space will be located in the former cafeteria and under the main facade's portico, integrating it into the current facilities.
Other users such as Sebastià Sánchez, Teresa, and Jordi view the improvements positively, considering them beneficial for students.
Álvaro also pointed out the regular presence of homeless individuals in the portico, requesting that this situation be addressed.
The new 24-hour study room will span 223 square meters with 98 workstations, adding to the existing 81. Autonomous access will be managed through an application, a double-door opening system, and security cameras.
