The Sabadell City Council held an institutional ceremony on February 26 to honor the memory of Jordi Roca, a multifaceted artist and activist who passed away in 2022.

Born in Ripoll in 1933, Jordi Roca moved to Sabadell in the mid-1940s, becoming a central figure in the city's cultural life. The tribute recalled his professional career in advertising and his political struggle against the Franco regime, which led to his imprisonment in La Model and Carabanchel.
Speakers including Joan Brunet and filmmaker Pere Cornellas highlighted his artistic contributions, such as the portrait series Gent de Sabadell and the sculpture Sabadell a Mozart. The event featured musical performances by pianist David Casanova, playing works by Bach and Benet Casablancas.
Mayor Marta Farrés presented a commemorative plaque to Joana Soler, the artist's widow. This ceremony marks the second official tribute to Jordi Roca this year, following a dramatic reading held in late January.
