The Sabadell City Council closed 2025 with a total of 1,349 occupied homes, representing a 5.4% decrease compared to the previous year, according to municipal data.

The city managed to reduce the number of properties in this situation by 77. This downward trend is attributed to increased police effectiveness. Over the last year, the Local Police and Mossos d'Esquadra successfully stopped 220 attempted occupations, a record figure for the municipality.

"Occupying in this city had no consequences, there was impunity and that generated a call effect."

Mayor Marta Farrés linked these figures to a 'zero tolerance' policy against conflictive occupations. Currently, the council has identified about 60 particularly problematic spots where they are urging owners, mostly large scale landlords, to file reports to speed up judicial proceedings.
