The project foresees a building with approximately 30 protected homes and a commercial establishment on a municipal plot that will be granted through a surface right for 75 years. The plot has a buildable area of 6,638 square meters for housing and 2,554 square meters for commercial use.
“"This is the first time we have held a tender of this type, combining housing and a supermarket, and what we have done now is adjust the price."
According to the municipal government spokesperson, Eloi Cortés, the main modification compared to last year's tender is the reduction of the estimated contract price, which drops from five million euros to 4.5 million. The successful bidder will be responsible for construction and operation, and the City Council will recover ownership once the term ends.
This initiative is part of Sabadell's public-private collaboration strategy to expand the affordable housing stock. The flats will be allocated through the Catalonia Official Protected Housing Applicants Registry. The government expects the tender to be awarded around summer, after overcoming five or six months of administrative processing.
In parallel, the Municipal Plenary will also debate the initial approval of the Local Housing Plan 2025-2030, which reinforces the commitment to public housing. Sabadell is currently the second city in Catalonia with the most protected flats and the first in proportion of affordable housing per inhabitant.
