The city of Sabadell will receive 3.2 million euros for the improvement of its educational centers, an investment that is part of an extraordinary 100 million euro plan by the Generalitat de Catalunya for the entire territory.

This allocation, announced by the Department of Education, will allow interventions in up to 27 facilities in the city that meet the established criteria. The funds will be channeled through local councils, which will be responsible for defining priorities and deciding which centers will undergo the works.
The Sabadell City Council has already begun work to establish the list of actions. The mayor, Marta Farrés, has confirmed the council's willingness to invest the funds quickly, while warning that the amount will not be sufficient to cover all existing needs. Farrés highlighted structural problems such as the presence of fiber cement and the deterioration of old facilities in several centers.

"Our will is to invest them immediately. However, the allocation will not be enough to cover all existing needs."

The 27 centers identified in Sabadell are mainly primary schools or school institutes, built or rehabilitated before 2007 and not owned by Infraestructures.cat. Resources are also distributed based on the number of students enrolled in each municipality. Planned improvements include roofs, carpentry, boilers, bathrooms, kitchens, dining rooms, energy efficiency, and the removal of materials such as asbestos.
Local councils will have until 2028 to execute the actions and justify the expenses to the Department of Education. Sabadell, along with Terrassa, is the municipality in Vallès Occidental that will receive the highest allocation, exceeding three million euros. The region will concentrate nearly 13 million euros, approximately 13% of the total fund, with other municipalities such as Sant Cugat, Barberà, Cerdanyola, and Sant Quirze also having centers eligible for action.
