A group of young residents from District 3 in Sabadell, supported by northern neighborhood associations, has denounced the neglect of the Sant Julià futsal court and the obstacles they face when trying to influence municipal decisions.

The sports facility, dating back to the 1960s, is currently in a state of technical paralysis. Users report that goals and lighting have been removed, while fences remain broken and graffiti covers the stands. This degradation has left the space effectively unusable, despite remaining open to the public.

"Real democracy begins when citizens participate every day, every month, and every year, not just when they vote on a random Sunday."

The youth criticize the Sabadell City Council participation system, which relies on formal petitions that minors cannot file without an adult sponsor. They also lament the dissolution of District Councils during Mayor Marta Farrés's first term (2019-2023) and the fact that the Children and Adolescents Council ends at age 13.
The demand is based on Article 31 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which guarantees the right to play and leisure. The affected group urges the local government to fulfill its duty to provide dignified spaces for sports and to create new channels for youth involvement.
