This decision, reiterated last week, means that the celebrations will be concentrated in emblematic locations such as the Racó del Campanar, Plaça del Doctor Robert, and Casa Duran, where the traditional reception will take place. The church of Sant Feliu will host the main religious service, while the Inspira Arrels entity will organize the second edition of the Fontada de la Salut at the Font de Can Rull.
The COVID-19 pandemic already led to the suspension of the Aplec in 2020 and a reduced edition in 2021. However, this is the first time the event has had to leave its usual sanctuary for a reason other than a human virus. On this occasion, African swine fever, which has caused concern in the organization of outdoor events since late November, is the reason for the change.
The Aplec 2026 program, presented by the City Council and collaborating entities from the courtyard of Casa Duran, includes the reception traditionally held at the Hostatgeria de la Salut. The parish of Sant Fèlix will be the setting for the votive mass, with the presence of the bishop of Terrassa. A replica of the image of the Mare de Déu de la Salut will be transferred from the sanctuary to Sant Fèlix, where it can be visited from Saturday to Monday in the Capella dels Dolors. This is one of the few times the image leaves its sanctuary, the last being two decades ago for its consecration as patroness of the Vallès diocese.
Popular and traditional cultural activities will be distributed between Plaça del Doctor Robert, Racó del Campanar, and Plaça Sant Roc. There will be giant figure displays, parades with the Bastoners de Sabadell and various giant figure groups, and a sardana dance by the Cobla Jovenívola. An urban walk through city parks and an urban orienteering race in Parc de Catalunya will also be organized.
The Fontada de la Salut, organized by Inspira Arrels, will hold its second edition around the Font de Can Rull, featuring concerts by Boubacar Cisshokho, Cop d'Ànima, and Bratia, Balkan Gypsy Jazz i World music, historical reenactments, wine tastings, exhibitions, games, and a popular paella. Activities will run from 10 AM to 9 PM.
In addition to the program for Monday, May 11, there will be preliminary activities such as the 42nd edition of the Choir Gathering at the La Faràndula theater, the Vet Aquí Sabadell storytelling festival, and the 18th edition of Sabadell, Festa i Tradició. Saturday will include several parades converging at Plaça Sant Roc for the Empestada, a castellera day, and the cantata Avui cantem Sabadell. Sunday will continue with cultural activities, guided itineraries, and visits to the Torre de l'Aigua, as well as the Rambla de les Corals and the 23rd sardana dance group competition.
At the Santuari de la Salut, over the weekend, only confessional activities will take place, with the exception of the votive mass on Monday morning, which will be held at Sant Fèlix.
