The Sant Cugat del Vallès City Council has processed 14,966 removals from the municipal census since 2024, with the vast majority linked to standard administrative procedures.

Official data reveals that the primary reason for leaving the registry is a change of residence, accounting for 9,279 cases (62%). Improper registrations follow with 3,413 cases, representing 22.8% of the total volume.

"These fraudulent registrations, mostly involving people from India and Pakistan, could have been carried out by a mafia."

Josep Maria Vallès · Mayor of Sant Cugat
Administrative records distinguish between 'improper' and 'fraudulent' entries. Only 306 cases were classified as actual fraud, a mere 2.04% of the total. Interestingly, Spanish nationals lead the list of improper registrations with 1,013 cases, followed by citizens from France and Italy.
