Sant Cugat emerges as Catalonia's second largest audiovisual hub

With 111 specialized companies, the city trails only Barcelona in the regional ranking of the creative industry.

The agency ACCIÓ has reported that Sant Cugat del Vallès is now the second municipality in Catalonia with the highest concentration of audiovisual companies, hosting 111 firms in 2024.

According to the latest data, Sant Cugat follows Barcelona (2,503 companies) and surpasses other cities like Sabadell (86) and Girona (82). The Vallès Occidental region accounts for 8.8% of the sector's total volume, driven by cinema production, video games, and digital media.

The audiovisual sector contributed 2.9% to the Catalan GDP in 2024, reaching a turnover of 9.12 billion euros. Local growth is also visible in filming activities, with Sant Cugat City of Film coordinating 56 productions for global brands such as Nike, BMW, and Netflix.
