Sant Cugat showcases technological potential at Mobile World Congress 2026

Nine local startups will participate in the global event through the Barcelona Innovation Valley public-private alliance.

The Mayor of Sant Cugat del Vallès, Josep Maria Vallès, presented the city's strategy for Mobile World Congress 2026, positioning the municipality as a key metropolitan innovation hub.

The local delegation will join the 4YFN space as part of the Barcelona Innovation Valley Alliance (BIVA). This platform, comprising 34 organizations including universities and tech centers, aims to consolidate the city as the leading knowledge hub outside Barcelona.

"With 94 startups, Sant Cugat has the highest number of startups per inhabitant in Catalonia and accounts for nearly 46% of emerging companies in Vallès Occidental."

The nine selected companies include Artificial Intelligence projects for health, such as Atleia and Fitter Health, and educational tools like Mathew Education. Chip technology will also be represented by FlexiiC, a CSIC spin-off, alongside medical rehabilitation systems like Point Pressure.
The congress agenda features a session on the living-lab city model, involving ESADE, Eurecat, and UPC. With a business volume of 31.8 billion euros, the city's economic ecosystem serves as a real-world environment for testing new technologies.
