Citizens participate in a public debate on municipal budgets in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda.

The Santa Perpètua City Council has opened the period for submitting proposals for the Participatory Budgets, with an allocation of 200,000 euros for investments decided by the citizens.

Until next November 8th, residents of Santa Perpètua aged 14 and over can submit their proposals to improve the municipality. This edition expands participation to young people from this age, a novelty compared to the previous edition where the minimum age to vote was 16. The Councilor for Citizen Participation, Sandra Gómez, has encouraged young people to participate, highlighting their different perspectives and needs, and has announced informational workshops in high schools.
Proposals, which must be for the improvement of municipal spaces and facilities, should be submitted through the citizen participation digital portal Participa311. In-person points and workshops will also be available, such as those scheduled for this Saturday, October 10th, at the Sports Pavilion (from 9 to 11 am) and Central Park (from 12 to 2 pm).
The process consists of two phases: the submission of proposals and the voting of the finalists. Residents registered in the municipality over 14 years old, entities registered in the Registry of Entities, participatory councils, organized groups, educational centers, shops, and businesses in the municipality can submit projects. Each participant can submit a maximum of three proposals. Political parties and trade unions are excluded from this participation.
Once the submission period ends, municipal technical services will study the proposals to verify their compliance with the requirements. The Citizen Participation technician, Esther Baeza, explained that a technical team will calculate the costs and classify the proposals into large (up to 50,000 euros), medium (up to 20,000 euros), and small (up to 6,000 euros).
The Joint Commission for Participatory Budgets, composed of four political representatives, four municipal technicians, and four citizens, will decide which proposals will proceed to the final vote. Councilor Sandra Gómez emphasized that the commission will be parity-based to ensure a "feminist perspective on the projects".
The voting for the finalist proposals will take place in January, both through the digital platform and at in-person and mobile support points.
