The Sabadell City Council and the Ministry of the Interior have confirmed a 32.4% increase in crimes against sexual freedom in the city during 2025, totaling 98 cases.

The crime report for the fourth quarter of 2025 shows a dual trend in Sabadell. While total criminal offenses saw a slight decrease of 0.6%, dropping from 10,702 to 10,635 cases, sexual crimes grew significantly. Specifically, 24 more incidents were recorded than the previous year, with sexual assaults involving penetration rising from 31 to 40 cases.

"Women are increasingly daring to report these crimes. We knew there would be an increase due to the change in regulation, but we are reaching figures we cannot afford."

Adrián Hernández · 4th Deputy Mayor for Security
Police sources and local authorities attribute this rise to new legal regulations introduced in mid-2025. The Mossos d'Esquadra and the council emphasized that most cases occur within relationships or at home, pledging zero tolerance and a focus on education to reverse the trend.
