Six real estate developers have expressed their intention to build the 444 public housing units planned on 24 plots across thirteen Catalan municipalities. Among these municipalities is Vacarisses, where a total of 29 official protection flats are expected to be constructed. This initiative is part of a broader plan that includes 783 homes in 40 municipalities.
The Generalitat de Catalunya, through the Department of Territory, Housing, and Ecological Transition, has announced that the first applications have been received one month after the tender opening. Councillor Sílvia Paneque highlighted the initial success of these innovative policies aimed at increasing the public rental housing stock and facilitating access to housing.
In Vacarisses, the City Council provided two plots: one at passeig de la Torre, 2c and another at carrer del Cingle Moliner, 14. These sites are designated for the construction of the 29 social housing units.
Over the next month, a tender will remain open for developers to submit their final offers for plots that have already received at least one expression of interest. The award will be based on the best proposal. Plots that have not yet received any offers will continue with the tender open on the Generalitat's Contracting Platform.
The Generalitat has opted for individual tenders to better adapt to the specific characteristics of each plot and municipality. The option for groups of families to submit joint offers to become awardees and owners of the properties for 75 years, designating them for social protection, is also available.
