The rain, which fell unevenly across the city's neighborhoods, caused significant puddles in the streets and terraces. The hailstones, which were the first element to fall, reached the size of a two-euro coin. The temperature dropped by about nine degrees, although it later rose again.
According to Terrassa meteorologist Ramon Navarro, a collaborator of MónTerrassa, this is a summer storm "typical of the second half of August." His station at plaça de l’Aigua recorded 20.4 liters per square meter. Other stations, such as the one belonging to the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya (Meteocat) in Can Poal, registered 19 liters, while private stations in Sant Pere, Ca n’Aurell, plaça Nova, la Rambla, and Can Boada recorded between 16.4 and 24.8 liters.
Meteorologist Francesc Mauri posted on X from the Ca n’Aurell neighborhood a record of 24 liters per square meter and hailstones measuring one to two centimeters. The intensity of the rain and hail filled social media with images shared by internet users.
The city's streams, such as the Palau stream as it passes through ronda de Ponent, also filled with water, forming reservoirs on the roadways. Navarro calculated that the temperature dropped from 32 to 21 degrees, although it later rose again to 27 degrees. Intense rains are expected again from Friday midnight, with temperatures not exceeding 30 degrees.
