The Terrassa City Council this week initiated works to enhance accessibility at five strategic intersections in the city, aiming to renovate sidewalks and pedestrian crossings and eliminate architectural barriers.
The project, with a budget of 96,724.39 euros (including VAT), is expected to last approximately 16 weeks. The interventions will focus on five intersections: Carrer de la Fraternitat with Carrer d’Ègara; Plaça del Mestre Serrat with Carrer de Catalunya; Carrer de Pitàgores with Vázquez de Mella; Carretera de Matadepera with Passeig de Lluís Muncunill; and Carrer d’Arenys de Mar, number 15.
According to City Council sources, the improvements aim to adapt these areas to current accessibility regulations. In some sections, sidewalks will be widened through the construction of "curb extensions," reconstruction of adapted dropped curbs, and installation of concrete ramps, among other enhancements.
“
"This is a project that demonstrates the commitment of this council to continue improving accessibility in the streets of the urban center, and to repair sidewalks that are in poor condition to keep the city up-to-date."
“
"The works are part of municipal actions aimed at improving public space accessibility and are intended to adapt sidewalks, intersections, and pedestrian crossings to be fully accessible, especially for people with reduced mobility. We are working to achieve a city for everyone and for everyone, while improving streets and adapting to the latest regulations."
