This new initiative, supported by the Terrassa City Council, aims to facilitate access to essential medical products through a donation-based system. The service was officially presented at the Casal Cívic de Sant Pere to health professionals and local families.
“"What may have been essential for one family at one time and is no longer needed can become a great opportunity for someone else."
Local mothers shared the financial challenges of raising children with disabilities, noting that specialized equipment like electric wheelchairs can cost up to 10,000 euros, with public subsidies covering less than half of the total expense.
The bank will rely on donations of used equipment, which will be refurbished and loaned out. Marià Gàllego, president of the CST, explained that users will pay a refundable deposit, ensuring the sustainability of the equipment for future needs.
