The Councillor for Public Housing Promotion, Lluïsa Melgares, confirmed that 270 homes from the Can Colomer (258) and Mas Adei (18) developments will be allocated during 2026. These deliveries are the first phase of a larger plan that includes the completion, between 2027 and 2028, of the Torre-sana (190 flats), the former AEG (213), and Vapor Cortés (37) developments.
“"Our new obsession is to reach a sufficient percentage of public housing, to have affordable flats, but above all to intervene in the market price."
To ensure continuity, the City Council has made 10 strategic plots available to the Generalitat with the potential capacity for 558 more homes. Of these, two plots in Parc de Gernika and Ciudad Real Street, with a potential for 206 homes, will be promoted by Incasòl through a collaboration agreement.
In addition to new construction, the strategy of direct purchase through pre-emption and retraction has allowed the acquisition of around 64 existing flats, with an investment of 4 million euros. The mandate's objective is major: to reach approximately 5,000 homes within the affordable housing orbit in the coming years.
The current market situation is critical, with 5,094 applicants registered for housing in Terrassa at the end of the year. The manager of the Housing Office, Eva Dalmau, highlighted the mediation work, which allowed only 142 of the 869 scheduled evictions to be executed in 2024, while the emergency table has regularized 470 families since 2023.
