The mayor of Terrassa, Jordi Ballart, visited the Girona Congress Palace and Fair this Thursday to analyze their model of governance and urban integration. The objective is to gather ideas applicable to the project for the new Terrassa Exhibition and Congress Center, a facility currently being studied in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce.
Ballart highlighted that the project is "the result of years of reflection and joint work with the economic and business sector." The visit included an institutional meeting with the mayor of Girona, Lluc Salellas, with whom an agreement was reached to create a shared working space to address common challenges.
According to Ballart, both cities share "priorities focused on citizen well-being, without instructions coming from Barcelona or Madrid." The meeting addressed topics such as housing, demographic growth, and climate change. Salellas emphasized the central role of both cities in urban transformation by driving ambitious projects while maintaining a close relationship with citizens.
Finally, both mayors advocated for the remunicipalization and public management of services, supporting the action of AMEP, which has proposed to the Congress of Deputies to promote the recovery of public control over the electricity grid against the power of private operators.
