Severe storms are affecting the Valencian Community with damage and Catalonia with warnings for intense rains, hail, and strong winds.

The storms forecast for Thursday have begun to cause significant damage. In Alzira, in the Valencian Community, wind gusts of up to 140 km/h have been recorded, causing the roof of the church of Santa Catalina to be blown off.
The Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya (Meteocat) has issued a severe weather warning early this afternoon, valid until 6:10 PM, with a risk of hail larger than 2 cm in diameter. This warning affects regions such as Anoia, Alt Penedès, Baix Llobregat, and Vallès Occidental and Oriental. The danger is very high in Bages and high in Moianès.
Intense rainfall is expected around 6:00 PM from the Terres de l'Ebre to Barcelona. A third wave of showers is forecast around 10:00 PM in the Lleida Pyrenees, affecting areas like Noguera, Pallars, Alta Ribagorça, and Alt Urgell.
Meteocat has warned about the risks of storms with hail and strong wind gusts in high mountain areas, recommending caution and alerting to potential reduced visibility due to fog.
The Firefighters have responded to about fifty calls between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM, mainly in Vallès Occidental, to clear fallen trees, remove urban furniture, and manage minor flooding.
These rains have been accompanied by a drop in temperatures, marking a change from the high temperatures of the summer. The forecast is for temperatures to normalize towards the weekend, returning to the usual values for August.
