The central event took place at the Casal de Gent Gran Casa de la Mina, where the ‘Manifest for an Ageism-Free Society’ was read. The literary competition received 23 works in the narrative category and 20 in poetry, primarily from the province of Barcelona, as well as other parts of the Catalan Countries and the State.

The local narrative prize, worth 400 euros, went to Joan Antoni Olivares Obis (Montcada i Reixac) for 'Porca pesta' (Filthy plague), and the 100 euro mention to Miguel Ángel Salamero Garcés (Montcada i Reixac) for 'Una nova era' (A new era).
Mayor Bartolo Egea highlighted the active role of seniors in the city, stating that "getting older does not mean stopping participating, or losing the desire or the ability to do things. The seniors of Montcada i Reixac are not just memory: they are present, participation, experience, commitment, and future." The Councilor for Seniors, Carles Vilalta, emphasized the municipal commitment to dignified and active aging, remarking that "age cannot set anyone's limits".
The commemorative program will continue on October 25th with the XI Intergenerational Walk and the Seniors' Ball. On October 28th, it will conclude with the conference 'Dones grans, grans expertes' (Great women, great experts), by Anna Freixas Farré.
