The T-314 road, connecting Cambrils and Reus, has topped the danger ranking, displacing the BP-1417 (the Arrabassada), which links Sant Cugat with Barcelona. These two routes are the only ones considered to be of “very high risk” across the country, according to the report analyzing the 2022-2024 triennium.
“"On the T-314 there have been two fatalities and one seriously injured person, facts that have caused the numbers to jump. There was an element crossing the road and protection that was missing."
The study, which analyzed over 6,300 kilometers of interurban roads, reveals that 26% of the road network presents a high or very high risk of serious or fatal accidents, two percentage points more than in the previous period. This risk is primarily concentrated on conventional roads.
The increase in serious and fatal accidents has grown by 14.1% over the three years, rising from 509 to 581 accidents, according to RACC President Josep Mateu. The report highlights the worrying involvement of motorcycles, which are present in 47% of fatal accidents, despite representing only 3.2% of overall mobility.
Among the ten most dangerous roads, new entries include the BC-5224 (between Manlleu and Torelló), the C-14 (between Artesa de Segre and Ponts), and the C-31 (between Sitges and Castelldefels). In contrast, the A-2, between Vidreres and Aiguaviva, has become the lowest-risk section in Catalonia, recording no serious or fatal accidents despite its high traffic intensity.
