Casino reopening, LEZ implementation, and Swine Fever restrictions dominate Rubí news

The second week of December in Rubí was marked by the reopening of the Casino, following a comprehensive renovation, and the imminent entry into force of the Low Emission Zone.

The Rubí Casino was the main focus this week with its inauguration, after being closed for many years and undergoing comprehensive renovation works. This facility is thus recovered for the city's use.
Furthermore, Rubí is ready to implement the Low Emission Zone (LEZ), which will officially start operating next December 29. Concerning security, the arrest of a man for spreading racist messages on social media, promoting the expulsion of migrants, was announced.
Access restrictions to natural areas aimed at containing African Swine Fever (ASF) continue to be enforced in Rubí. According to the latest information, the confinement could be extended until February within a six-kilometer radius around the outbreak's origin.
Regarding educational infrastructure, work began this week to install new fans in the common areas of municipal schools, a measure expected to reduce the thermal sensation by up to 4 degrees in areas like dining halls or libraries.
Finally, a report by the Diputació de Barcelona highlighted four companies from Rubí among the highest-grossing in the Vallès Occidental and the province. Historian Jordi Vilalta also recalled the great snowfall and the Rierada (flood) that marked the year 1962 in Rubí's history.
